2 - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

 
The other model often used is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT. This model is solution focused and goal driven, it is less concerned with your family of origin and more concerned with how to give you skills and strategies to cope with your life now.

It is usually a shorter term therapy lasting an agreed number of sessions, 10, 16, 20 etc., depending on the type of problem that is being addressed. Here are the contact details for the governing body for therapists working in this model in the UK:
